The Ann Arbor District Public Library is a great place for families.
The Traver Wood Branch, 3333 Traverwood Dr. Ann Arbor, MI. (734) 327-4200 is the location closest to our schools. Here you check out leveled books in English, attend ELL classes for adults, homework help (see resources for students and parents) as well as many attend many literacy opportunities for kids.
English Language Learning Collection-- AADL holds English Language Learning materials in a variety of media: CDs, DVDs, Books, DVDs , Books on CD and downloads for AADL library card holders. Anyone is welcome to use our public computers however we ask for a picture ID. We've got periodicals that are perfect for English Language Learners: The Easy English News and News for You.
Basic ESL – Is an online system accessible from our website that is designed to deliver self-paced ESL lessons & is offered in many languages. See if Basic ESL can help you or the students you serve learn English. Calendar of ESL conversation groups.
If English is a new language for you, check out the Easy English News at the Ann Arbor district library. It contains current events written in simple English for new learners and readers.

Ann Arbor District Library offers students homework help in a variety of ways. Registering for the website is simple, and should not take more than a few minutes. Once you register you will be able to use these resources, which includes Live tutors that are available from 2-11 pm every day to teach students in the subject areas of math, English, science, and social studies.

Leslie Science Center is located right in our neighborhood. It has many science activities and camps for families and children. There's also a new play area!
The Creature Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization, promotes Conservation Through Education. Visit to see fascinating animals like crocodiles, red kangaroos and a sloth!
Located on the University of Michigan campus, the Museum of Natural History is the place to visit to learn about the natural history of Michigan! It has museum tours, camps and activities for children and families.
Providing social and recreational educational opportunities for children and adults, the Rec & Ed has programs for everyone. Many after school activities and summer camps are offered for children as well as adult education programs including high school completion, GED, and English as a Second language.
Ann Arbor offers free adult ESL classes to anyone over the age of 20. They offer 15 week classes in September and January. Click on the link above for more information.

Extended School Day
We have local areas that offer extended day school in different languages for a variety of reasons. Some include building literacy and oral language and maintaining a first language in preparation for returning to your native country. Please see your child's EL teacher for more information.

Seasonal Activities
Argo Park Canoe and Kayak Livery
This local park has great outdoor playgrounds and offers boat, kayak, canoe and tube rentals. They also have trails and fishing. Check out their seasonal programs and events!
Cold is Cool Passport (Free skiing for 4th & 5th Grade Students)
4th and 5th grade students ski for free ($50 processing fee) at 30 participating ski areas. They are given up to three free lift tickets with discounts on gear, passes and lessons.
